Name: Anastasia O Donoghue Healy
Address: West Cork
Date of birth: 5 July 1968
Originally from Wexford Anastasia is a self taught artist who came to painting late in life. Having turned down a place in Limerick Art College in 1986 she pursued a career as a teacher of Home Economics . In 2000 she made the decision to make time for making paintings. In 2001 encouraged by artist Paul Doran she had her first exhibition hosted by Gorey Artists Foundation. From this time she has continued to develop her language and her mark as a painter . In 2010 she married Tadhg and moved to West Cork where she continues to paint. When Anastasia is not painting she is working on the farm with Tadhg which she believes is a gift to her painting as it allows a continued observation of all that informs her understanding of the land ,landscape, wildlife and all animals. It is a seamless transition from farm to painting and painting to farm for this reason.
Anastasia is currently working “en plein air” which continues to inform her craft of painting. She describes her work as an intuitive and instinctive response to her experience of the landscape at a given time. Her growing interest in awareness consciousness brings "presence" to her painting process allowing her to capture the "isness" of the landscape at a given time.
Anastasia shows her work with The Lavit Gallery Cork City, Greenacres Art Gallery Wexford,The Loft Gallery Clonakilty, The Kenny Gallery Galway, The Gallery, Kinsale, The Hungry Hill Gallery, Adrigole, The Narrow Space, Clonmel and at Rathsallagh Country House Hotel.
